Development of sports in the limelight in Almaty region

"In his state-of-the-nation address "Kazakhstan-2050" Strategy President Nursultan Nazarbayev noted that physical culture and sports should be high on the Government's agenda. Healthy lifestyle is a key to healthy nation," governor of the Almaty region Ansar Musakhanov told Thursday meeting on the eve of the Sports Day that will be largely celebrated in Kazakhstan this year.

According to Musakhanov, sports events are regularly held in the region in order to implement the presidential instructions.

Currently, new sports facilities are being erected, stadiums and other sport objects are being reconstructed in the province. Moreover, each year the administration of the region awards monthly scholarships to 60 best athletes and 25 physically challenged sportsmen.

"I would like to take this opportunity to laud our weightlifters who took home gold medals at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London. This is thanks to our coaches Azamat Kukebayev, Murat Sikymbayev, Nigmatully Saidiyeva, Alexey and Viktor Ni, Murat Zhuzgenbayev and many others," governor Musakhanov told the meeting and wished Kazakhstan further sports success and achievements.
