Days of Culture of Astana held in Ankara
Kazakh delegation led by Astana mayor Imangali Tasmagambetov arrived in Ankara. On this occasion, the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Turkey hosted a reception.
Official meetings, festivities, a photo exposition and arts and crafts exhibition devoted to Astana, gala concerts with the participation of Kazakhstan's stars were held during these days in Ankara.
Astana mayor I.Tasmagambetov met with Speaker of Turkey's Parliament Cemil Cicek. The sides discussed issues of bilateral cooperation. Turkey is the first country to recognize the independence of Kazakhstan. Friendship between the two nations, which has originated in the mists of time, continues to grow stronger. C. Cicek praised the development of Kazakhstan over the last 20 years of independence, and emphasized the special role of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
Besides, I.Tasmagambetov and Ankara Mayor Melih Gokcek signed a protocol of cooperation. Astana and Ankara are now twin cities. The agreement on establishment of friendly relations between the two capitals was signed in 2011.
During the meeting Melih Gokchek said: "It needless to be said that Astana and Ankara have common interests. Based on this agreement, we will further develop our bilateral historical, cultural and spiritual ties. This year Astana was named the capital of Turkic world. Its beauty, special charm and atmosphere of the young city fascinates its visitors. Ankara architects have made an invaluable contribution to its image by building architectural sites, that have become Astana's attractions ".
