Danish architect Jan Gehl told metropolitan architects how to improve the life quality in Astana

Imangali Tasmagambetov, Astana city akim:
"The developed experience is very interesting considering that in this hall there are major developers of Astana general layout implementation - the architects. I believe that todays meeting will be interesting and it will bring new ideas and new programs for development of our city".
Jan Gehl told the audience about his activities - creation of cities for people. According to him, the most important factor during projecting and development of the city is its convenience for its residents.
Jan Gehl, architect, urban design consultant (Denmark):
"Architecture is first of all interaction between the life and the form. For me it's great pleasure to learn the life and human psychology. To understand what people need, and people need comfort in cities. The more space you give to people, the better they will use it".
The main problem which is worked out by the professor - is to release cities from plenty of cars. He is sure that pedestrian and cycling culture should be developed in Astana just like in other bug cities.
