Customs Union to create databank of e-passports for commodities
According to Viktor Dravitsa, this project will help the three countries transfer to single classification of commodity groups, uniform electronic documents which will substitute paper documents in future. "There are certain disagreements between the countries on some issues. The biggest problem is the necessity to substitute paper invoices with electronic ones. Russia made more progress in this aspect than we did. But we need uniform standards within the Customs Union," Viktor Dravitsa said.
According to BelTA, at the next session the Customs Union Commission will consider the terms of unification of databanks of electronic passports for commodities. "We will advocate that our project is made a basic, model one," Viktor Dravitsa stressed.
The databank of electronic passports project which is underway in Belarus is intended to reduce the number of paper documents in trade and facilitate the transition to electronic documents which confirm the origin and quality of goods. The electronic system is based on international standards. The system includes barcode information, qualitative characteristics of goods and information necessary for logistics and trade. "The system contains single description of goods, which is necessary for manufacturers and shippers. The database integrates all this information, making it easier to work with trade flows," Viktor Dravitsa added.
