Customs Union technical regulations on dairy products nearly ready

The official said that the Customs Union is nearly done working out technical regulations for food products, in particular, the safety of dairy products. The technical regulations on meat, alcohol and tobacco are in development. In the near future the Advisory Committee for Technical Regulations of the Eurasian Economic Commission will discuss the drafts of these documents. "Their readiness will depend on whether we will be able to reach an agreement on several matters. Not everything is simple, there are some differences of opinion, but things get resolved," he said.
Following the regulations the Customs Union adopted on 16 October, the Commission is also busy preparing standardization programs. Every technical regulation of the Customs Union that gets adopted will get a standardization program. It is done for the sake of improving, updating, and, if necessary, amending the legal base. It is a joint effort of all the specialists of the Customs Union member states, who are now working on the technical regulation.
Valery Koreshkov mentioned Belarus' active stance on the development of the technical regulations. Out of the 31 technical regulations that the Customs Union has adopted seven ones were developed by Belarusian specialists. The regulations cover agricultural machines, cosmetics, toys, low-voltage equipment, and other important kinds of merchandise. Interstate standards are being developed on the basis of these technical regulations. These are rather complicated documents. A lot of work will go into them. They cover electrical products, mechanical engineering and other areas.
