CSTO to enhance its military capacity

MOSCOW. August 29. KAZINFORM The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will enhance its military capacity. The relevant decision will be made at the forthcoming session of the CSTO Collective Security Council in December, CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha said following a session of the chiefs of general staffs of the armed forces of the CSTO member states in Moscow on 28 August, BelTA has learnt.

Head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia Nikolai Makarov informed that the agenda of the session covered a wide range of issues related to partial restructuring and changes in the military structure of the CSTO. They also discussed ways to reinforce collective efforts of the organization. "Against the backdrop of a complicated international situation, the military component of the organization should be enhanced," Nikolai Makarov said, BelTA reports.

The participants of the session discussed preparation for the peacekeeping exercise Inviolable Brotherhood that will be held at three firing ranges in Kazakhstan in October.

The Belarusian delegation was led by chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Major General Piotr Tikhonovsky.
