CSTO presidents to decide on level of consultations about placing third-country installations

The information was released by Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Mr Nikolai Bordiuzha, BelTA has learned.
The urgent consultations are specified by the protocol on placing military infrastructure installations in the CSTO member states. Speaking about the level of participation, Nikolai Bordiuzha specified: "It is up to our heads of state to decide. I think it will be either the defense ministers or the foreign affairs ministers", BelTA reports.
The protocol has been ratified by four countries out of the six ones. "If I am not mistaken, the Kyrgyzstan parliament is looking into the document. The work progresses rather intensively," explained Nikolai Bordiuzha.
The Secretary General underlined that in line with the protocol installations of third countries, which are not members of the CSTO, can be placed not after the urgent consultations but only if the partner states express no official objections. If an objection is voiced, the CSTO member that has agreed to host a third-party military base will have to revoke the agreement.
