CSTO Collective Security Council to sit in Sochi in September
Chiefs of the general staffs of the armed forces of Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan discussed the state and development of the military and political situation in the Central Asia collective security region, challenges and threats to the military security in this region, the improvement of the military component of the organization, as well as preparations for the forthcoming session of CSTO charter bodies, BelTA reports.
Participants of the session paid close attention to the development of the CSTO troops management system, the formation and operation of the command in charge of the collective rapid response forces, and the improvement of the CSTO United Staff performance.
The 23 August session of the CSTO Military Committee was the third one held in 2013. This coordinating mechanism allows chiefs of the general staffs of the CSTO armies to promptly share views and determine ways to resolve the emerging problems that influence further development and enhancement of the military cooperation within the framework of the organization.
