Criminal case opened over major road accident in Moscow

"The detectives of the police department in the south of the Russian capital opened a criminal case over a road accident on the Kashirskoye Highway under Article 264 of the Criminal Code for violation of the traffic and car steering rules. The culprit of the road accident was detained," the press service reported.

According to Itar-Tass, the road accident occurred at 4.00 p.m. Moscow time on Thursday at 34, the Kashirskoye Highway, when a 38-year-old drunken unemployed man lost control of a Nissan car, skidded on the walkway and rammed into people.

Nine people were injured in the road accident. Seven people were hospitalized, two of them died at the hospital. Another two injured people received the medical aid on the spot.

The Moscow main police department also reported that the culprit in the road accident acknowledged that he violated the traffic rules, when making a turn to the right from the second lane.

The medics have found a high percentage of alcohol in the blood.
