Convention on legal status of the Caspian Sea expected to be signed in 2016 - MFA

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - The Convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea is expected to be signed in 2016, this has been announced by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Erlan Idrissov at the Government's hour in Majilis.
"We need to solve the issue on the Caspian Sea. Astrakhan summit was very important. After the meeting heads of states signed the statement which laid the important principles of the Convention. The next summit on the Caspian Sea will be held in 2016 in Astana. President Nazarbayev set the task to sign the document," said Idrissov. The Minister noted that the Government will actively work in order to hasten the possibility of signing the Convention. There have been sent corresponding letters to the Foreign Ministers of the Caspian states. In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan expects support from deputy corps.
