Construction of deep oil conversion complex started in Atyrau

In his recent Address to the Nation, President Nursultan Nazarbayev charged to ensure establishment of a deep conversion complex at the Atyrau Oil Refinery.

The project on construction of the deep oil conversion complex is implemented within the State Program of Forced Industrial-Innovative Development and it is the final stage of reconstruction of the Atyrau Oil Refinery.

"Samruk-Kazyna" Fund, "KazMunaiGas" JSC, "KazMunaiGas - Processing and Marketing" JSC, Atyrau Oil Refinery LLP and "OmskNefteKhimProject" JSC (Russia) participate in implementation of the project. Theprojectcosts 1 billion 679 millionU.S. dollars. Implementation period is 41 months.

The goals on increasing the oil conversion ratio at the Atyrau Oil Refinery is connected with introduction of the secondary process providing for additional refining depth (coking, VAC-3) and with introduction of the basic process of deep conversion such as catalytic cracking.

The complex is designed to process 2 million 400 thousand crude oil per year. The complex will allow to increase production of high-octane gasoline, aviation fuel and diesel fuel.

Processing 5.5 mln tons of oil per year, the Atyrau Oil Refinery will annually produce 1 mln 745 thousand tons of gasoline, 1 mln 640 thousand tons of diesel fuel, 244 thousand tons of aviation kerosene. Besides, the production of furnace fuel will be reduced to 193 thousand tons. All fuels will meet the requirements of Euro-5 standard.
