Congress of religious leaders maintains multilateral inter-faith dialogue: Patriarch Kirill

MOSCOW. June 19. KAZINFORM "The Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions is of paramount importance in terms of maintaining the multilateral inter-faith dialogue," Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Rus' said during a meeting with Kazakh Senate Speaker Kairat Mami in Moscow.

"I keep good memories of my visit to Kazakhstan, participation in the religious forum, which is an important and effective platform for the multilateral inter-faith dialogue," His Holiness said.

"I also remember a very informative meeting with President Nazarbayev. I am satisfied with the level of relations between the Russian Orthodox Church and Kazakhstan as well as relations between the two traditional religions in the territory of Kazakhstan," Patriarch Kirill noted.

The Patriarch of Moscow and all Rus' also expressed confidence the religious dialogue and cooperation, formed in Kazakhstan, is important not only for Kazakhstan itself, but also for other countries, including the CIS member states. In his words, religious issues are an integral part of the international processes.

"In Kazakhstan, where all problems are solved peacefully, religions and confessions do cooperate in order to achieve common goals," Patriarch Kirill added.

Kairat Mami, in his turn, praised active role of the Patriarch in the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. It was also pointed out that since attaining independence Kazakhstan conducts well-balanced policy in the religious sphere, where Islam and Christianity are the pillars of spirituality of the country.
