Conference on Countering Financing of Nuclear Terrorism kicks off in Astana
'This Conference is held on the initiative of our President Nursultan Nazarbayev in order to further discuss those ideas that were negotiated at the Global Summit', Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Kairat Umarov said taking the floor.
The Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism is worldwide recognized and it unites 82 countries.
Countering nuclear Terrorism is considered as a vital element of the global nuclear nonproliferation and combating terrorism.
'Kazakhstan was one of the countries that joined the GICNT and became its partner. Kazakhstan confirms its willingness to and intention to combat terrorism in all forms', Mr. Umarov said.
Kazakhstan has set the goals of taking all the measures to prevent any possibilities of terrorism acts taking place. These goals are prior in internal and foreign policies of Kazakhstan.
Our country developed and now successfully conducts the policy that is aimed at ensuring political stability and interethnic harmony and perfecting the work of its state bodies responsible for preventing all forms of terrorism on its territories.
'This conference is one more contribution of Kazakhstan to the realization of the GICNT', K. Umarov emphasized in his welcome speech.
The Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism (GICNT) is an international partnership of 82 nations and 4 official observers working to improve capacity on a national and international level for prevention, detection, and response to a nuclear terrorist event. Partners join the GICNT by endorsing the Statement of Principles, a set of broad nuclear security objectives.
