Conference of European Society for Central Asian Studies completed in Astana
Following the results of this conference, for the very first time a representative of a non-European country has been chosen to become ESCAS Chairman – Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies named after R.B.Suleimenov MES RoK, member of the National commission of the RoK for UNESCO and ISESCO affairs Meruert Abuseitova. “On this post she has followed a representative of Great Britain Alexander Morrison”, - they reported in the National commission of the RoK for UNESCO and ISESCO affairs.
Such high confidence and recognition by outstanding scientists of the Old World is an evidence of progressive promotion of Kazakhstani science.
Let us recall that the event involved over 200 participants from 16 countries of Asta, Europe and North America. For the very first time ESCAS conference was held within the territory of Central Asia.
ESCAS was established in 1985 by a group of outstanding scientists from the Netherlands, Germany, France, Great Britain, Denmark and a number of other European countries working on Central Asian studies. The main purpose of the society is to promote joint research works of European scientists for Central Asia and academic community of the region itself.
