Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty data center opens in Minsk

Lassina Zerbo took part in the opening ceremony of the national data center at premises of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry. The center is fitted with the latest equipment that was supplied and installed at the expense of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization in July 2012 in compliance with the program for enhancing the potential of the CTBTO member states.

While in Belarus Lassina Zerbo is expected to meet with top executives of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, the Emergencies Ministry, the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry, the United Energy and Nuclear Research Institute Sosny of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus,  BelTA reports.

The Director of the CTBTO International Data Center Division is supposed to attend the opening of a national seminar dedicated to discussing the operation of the national data center and the promotion of cooperation with the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization. The seminar will take place in Minsk on 12-13 September. At the seminar experts of the Provisional Technical Secretariat of the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization, representatives of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry, the Emergencies Ministry, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, and Belarusian universities will get familiar with CTBTO capabilities. They will also discuss prospects of expanding practical cooperation, including participation of Belarusian experts in international trainings and seminars, which are held under the aegis of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization.
