The book, "Contemporary Kazakhstan: The Way Ahead", comprises 24 articles - more than half of which have been written by Kazakh scholars - while the others have been authored by Indian experts.

Dr. Mohanty is a faculty member at the School of International Studies at JNU.

He is also the director of Eurasian Foundation - a non-profit public research institute - which conceived this project.

"This book is the most comprehensive work on Kazakhstan. The Eurasian Foundation undertook this project as Kazakhstan is today the second largest strategic partner of India in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) after Russia," observed Dr. Mohanty.

The book has been dedicated to the visit of Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev early this year.

The book has been divided into three sections: Kazakhstan's foreign policy; internal developments in Kazakhstan; and bilateral relations between India and Kazakhstan.

The book was released by Dr. Kairat Umarov, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to India, at a function that was presided over by JNU professor Anuradha Chenoy.

The event was attended by various members of the diplomatic community from the CIS and other experts, Kazinform refers to Parul Sharma, The Hindu.
