ALMATY. January 10. KAZINFORM /Yelena Ilinskaya/ Competitions of any level and scale - Asian Games and Olympic Games - can be held in Almaty, Russian journalist, sports expert, former spokesman of the Russian Olympic Committee Gennady Shvets said at meeting with representatives of foreign mass media in the International Ski Jump Complex in Almaty on Saturday.
According to him sports facilities are ready and Almaty wants to bid for holding high level competitions. Almaty bid for holding the Sochi Olympics and was in the top 7 and finished 4th. 'I would really like Almaty to hold the Olympic Games, at least the Winter Olympics', the Russian journalist stated.
'Russia and Kazakhstan are located in common historical territory therefore the Asian Games will be to some degree common for our countries as well. The success of the Asian Games is our common success', G. Shvets noted.
