Coming Kazakhstan?s OSCE chairmanship ? significant event for Organization: K.Vollebaek

ASTANA. May 27. KAZINFORM /Aigul Tulekbayeva/ The visit of OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Knut Vollebaek to Kazakhstan has ended with a meeting with Kazakh Secretary of State Kanat Saudabayev today.
The interlocutors discussed cooperation within the coming Kazakhstan?s OSCE chairmanship.
?The coming chairmanship is a significant event not only for the country, but for the OSCE as well. One of the countries of the former Soviet Union will chair the OSCE for the first time. It informs on a new world that we are living in?, K.Vollebaek noted.
?Besides, the multinational society of your country can contribute to the OSCE many benefits that can be used within the next year and the years after the Kazakhstan?s chairmanship?, he said.
The High Commissioner noted that cooperation between the Kazakh Government, state bodies and the office of the OSCE High Commissioner on national minorities was established as well. ?The meeting with the State Secretary was productive. I am looking forward to a possibility of working with Kazakhstan as the chairman of the OSCE in 2010?, K.Vollebaek said.
