Collapsed roof kills one and injures 14 in St. Petersburg

ST.PETERSBURG. January 26. KAZINFORM A supermarket roof has collapsed in St. Petersburg killing one person and injuring 14. Eleven people have been pulled from under the rubble. Ten have been taken to hospital. A 35-year-old sales clerk was killed. Kazinform refers to Itar-Tass.
The accident occurred in the "O'Key" supermarket at 20:34 Moscow time on Tuesday as part of the roof collapsed under snow.
The St. Petersburg Governor Valentina Matvienko has visited the tragedy site. She said that all private organizations, including the owners of chain shops, had been instructed to watch the state of roofs and clean them from snow. Matvienko demanded that aid be given to the victims and that those responsible for the accident be found.
A criminal lawsuit has been filed on charges of breaching safety regulations when carrying out mining, construction and other works, a representative of the Russian Investigative Committee for St. Petersburg told Itar-Tass. See www.itar-tass.com
