CIS should promote its interests on international arena
"We are living in the single space. We need to think how to boost our economy, unite not only our scientific and educational resources, but also political efforts. The CIS member states should come up with a single strategy promoting the CIS interests on the international arena. It means the CIS should represent a common stance of its members in the United Nations, OSCE, IAEA," Piotr Vityaz said.
Accoridng to BelTA, he praised the CIS achievements over the 20 years as remarkable. He noted that this organization helped the former Soviet Union republics to unite their efforts to address many national and international issues in economy, culture, education and science.
He believes that the CIS member states should consolidate their efforts to tackle the most pressing problems of today. In his words, the CIS needs to prioritize the areas of the mutual interest that can benefit all the member states. This includes V and VI technologies paradigms in production, recycling, alternative energy and energy conservation.
Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee - Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev emphasized the efficiency and the constructive nature of the international conference 20 Years of the CIS held in Minsk.
Taking part in the forum were 200 participants: MPs, public figures, educators, government officials. They reviewed the CIS achievements over these years and outlined plans to enhance cooperation in the humanitarian field, economy and security. "All the participants agreed that the CIS should work further. They all understand that it is easier to address the existing issues by concerted effort," Sergei Lebedev said. He added that the final report of the conference will be included in the official papers of the CIS.
