CIS Plenipotentiaries to meet in Minsk 16 December

MINSK. KAZINFORM The CIS Plenipotentiaries Council will meet in Minsk on 16 December, BelTA learnt from the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

Partaking in the meeting will be Chairman of the Executive Committee - CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev. The meeting will highlight the activity of the council in 2014 and its action plan for 2015, BelTA reports.

In 2014 the CIS Plenipotentiaries Council held 13 meetings, including a joint one with the Commission for Economic Matters under the CIS Economic Council. A total of 37 issues related to different areas of cooperation were discussed at those meetings. The Council discussed issues related to the draft agendas of the CIS Heads of State Council, the CIS Heads of Government Councils, the CIS Foreign Ministers Council. The Council also devoted its attention to the issues related to the control over the implementation of the documents adopted by the CIS supreme bodies.

The Council continued the coordination and analysis of the activity of the CIS sectoral cooperation bodies and considered reports on the activity of three bodies: the Interstate Council on Cooperation in Print Media, Book Industry, Book Distribution and Typography; the CIS Council of Border Troops Commanders; the CIS Tourism Council.

The CIS Plenipotentiaries Council also considered other aspects of the activity of the international organization. Those are pension coverage of the CIS citizens, the inventory of the legal framework of the international organization, drafting of documents on the implementation of the provisions of the free trade zone agreement, implementation of documents on cooperation in migration. Apart from that, the Council attached its attention to the issues related to appointment of heads of observation missions at the presidential and parliamentary elections in the CIS member states.

On 16 December the CIS Plenipotentiaries Council will consider the concept of Kazakhstan's Chairmanship in the CIS in 2015 and its action plan. The documents will be presented by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Belarus, Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan in the CIS Bodies Ergali Bulegenov.

Besides, the Council will consider proposals to the draft agenda of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council that is due in Osh, Kyrgyzstan on 3 April 2015.
