CIS PA to work on long-term observation of preparing Azerbaijan's presidential elections

"Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs and Relations with Compatriots Leonid Slutsky has approved a work plan for long-term observation of preparing the presidential elections in Azerbaijan", the press service of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly says.

The plan provides an analysis of the electoral legislation of Azerbaijan, media monitoring, preparation of background material on election observation of the election campaign and work of election commissions.

According to the press service, the group of experts to monitor the preparation and conduct of elections of the President of the Azerbaijan Republic has already started to prepare a legal opinion on compliance of legislation governing the election of the head of Azerbaijan, international standards for free and democratic elections.
