CIS Heads of State Council in Minsk to highlight humanitarian issues
"The most significant of them are humanitarian issues that are related to the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, draft decisions on announcing the year 2014 the Year of Tourism in the CIS and on the implementation of the interstate program "CIS Capitals of Culture" in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan in 2014," the department said.
The heads of state plan to consider the activity of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (IPA) regarding the decisions of the CIS supreme bodies. "The CIS IPA promotes legal groundwork for the decisions of the CIS supreme bodies. On the whole, the IPA has adopted 385 model laws and other documents. Of them 32 were adopted in 2012. About 30 documents, including new wording of the model Tax and Education Codes of the CIS member states are slated for adoption in 2013," the department informed.
As for the security sector, the summiteers plan to discuss and approve the draft interstate program on joint action against crimes for 2014-2018, CIS cooperation program against terrorism and other extremist manifestations for 2014-2016, other multilateral interstate targeted programs.
Among other important documents in the security field included into the agenda of the meeting are draft concepts of CIS cooperation against cybercrimes, agreements on the foundation of the CIS Interstate Anti-Corruption and Secret Data Protection Council and treatment of classified information in the CIS bodies, BelTA reports.
The CIS Heads of State Council will also consider draft decisions on awarding the CIS diploma, on the date for the next CIS high-level meeting, on the presidency in the CIS in 2014 and other issues.
It is expected that Ukraine will preside in the CIS in 2014. Ukraine will be represented in the CIS Heads of State Council, the CIS Heads of Government Council, the CIS Foreign Ministers Council, the Economic Council, the CIS Plenipotentiaries Council and other CIS bodies as well as in the commission for economic affairs under the CIS Economic Council.
