CIS experts to discuss cooperation in geodesy, cartography 19-20 April

MINSK. April 19. KAZINFORM CIS experts are eager to finalize and harmonize the draft protocol to introduce amendments to the CIS cooperation agreement in geodesy, cartography, cadastre and earth remote sensing of 9 October 1992, BelTA learned from the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

The draft protocol was endorsed at the 30th session of the CIS Interstate Council of Geodesy, Cartography, Cadastre and Earth Remote Sensing. In line with the document, the regulations regarding the Interstate Council will be redrafted. The document was discussed at the session of the expert group in December 2010, however, Russia proposed to amend the draft document.

According to the new regulations, the Council will develop and harmonize priority avenues and forms of cooperation within its competence, develop, harmonize and implement interstate programs, plans and cooperation projects, prepare proposals regarding geodesy, cartography, cadastre and earth remote sensing and submit them to the CIS Council of Heads of Governments. The Council will also cooperate with interstate institutions and international organizations, coordinate specialists' training programs.

Members of the Council are heads of the state administration bodies for geodesy and cartography of the CIS countries, BelTA reports.
