CIS customs services adopt WCO-based commodity description and coding system
The system is based on the 5th revision of the harmonized commodity description and coding system of the World Customs Organization (WCO). The decision was made at a session of the Council of heads of the customs services of the CIS member states in Irkutsk on 9 June, the press service of the State Customs Committee of Belarus told BelTA.
Chairman of the State Customs Committee of Belarus (SCC) Alexander Shpilevsky represented Belarus at the session. A session of the Council of heads of customs services under the EurAsEC Integration Committee took place in Irkutsk as well.
The heads of the customs service of the CIS member states discussed matters relating to various spheres of customs service. Multilateral documents were signed. In particular, matters of inventorying the international legal base of the CIS states in the area of customs were taken care of. The participants came to terms on cooperation between the customs services, including typical technical conditions for organizing the preliminary sharing of information about commodities and vehicles that cross the customs borders of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
