CIS counterterrorism units to discuss Eurasian security

MOSCOW.  February 22. KAZINFORM Heads of the CIS counterterrorism units are expected to meet to discuss the role and place of security agencies, special services and law-enforcement bodies of the Commonwealth in ensuring Eurasian security. The meeting will take place in Odintsovo District of Moscow Oblast on 29 February, BelTA learnt from the press office of the CIS Counterterrorism Unit.

According to BelTA, the meeting participants will look into the issues concerning the state and prospects of the Eurasian security, problems related to the influence of economic and political integration processes on the quality of the counterterrorism measures in the CIS. Besides, experts will give an evaluation of the present-day terrorism as well as generation of new challenges and threats on the Eurasian territory.

Partaking in the meeting will be security agencies and special services of the CIS member states, the CIS Executive Committee, the Council of Heads of Security Bodies, the Secretariat of the Council of Defense Ministers, the Bureau on Organized Crime, international experts and representatives of international and regional organizations, such as the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Executive Committee of the Regional Counterterrorism Unit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Central-Asian Regional Information Coordination Center and the Eurasian Economic Commission.
