CIS bankers to meet in Baku

As the CIS executive Committee informs, the conference is organized by the CIS Finance and Banking Council under the aegis of the CIS Executive Committee, Administration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, International Bank of Azerbaijan and JSC VTB Bank.

The agenda of the conference includes discussion of such urgent issues like sustainability of the CIS banking systems in the conditions of instability of the global financial markets; necessity of development of financial infrastructure as a basis of formation of integrated regional banking sector of the Commonwealth and  the prospects of establishment of a single payments area in the CIS.

The participants will also focus on discussion of coordinated actions of the CIS banking community in attraction of long-term investment funds into the real sector of economy of the Commonwealth countries. This will ensure stable economic growth of the CIS countries' banking sector and will allow raising it to the international level.

The forum is also expected to consider the issues on creation of favorable conditions for creation of interstate investment structures and search for domestic reserves of long-term investment resources within the CIS states.

Upon completion of the conference the participants will adopt a final document which will reflect the main stages of further work on integration of the CIS financial-banking systems.

The conference will end October 16, 2009.
