Circus performers from Kazakhstan won 'Silver clown' in Monte-Carlo

ALMATY. February 15. KAZINFORM /Yekaterina Ionova/ Circus performers from Kazakhstan won the 'Silver clown' prize at the 35th International Circus Festival in Monte-Carlo. Head of Foreign Department of the Kazakh State Circus Rakhmatul Sharipov told Kazinform agency.

'Our troupe performed a record stunt - 'triple blanche' and won the second place of the prestigious festival in Monte-Carlo. The competition was very intense but after successful performance of a record stunt we received standing ovation. You can barely find any performer who does this stunt', Mr. Sharipov said.

Besides, he said that the five-member group were presently on tour in Japan. The group is going to be back in Kazakhstan late in March.

The first place was taken by three time winner of the festival, animal trainer from Italy Flavio Toni. He had five performances featuring elephants, tigers, horses and camels. American clown Bello Nock also won 'gold' of the festival sharing it with the animal trainer.

18 troupes from 10 countries took part in the competition this year. They were from Kazakhstan, Russia, USA, China, Italy, Germany, France, Canada, Brazil and Romania. Representatives of Russia, China, Japan, Germany, Netherlands and Great Britain were among the jury of the festival.
