CICA non-governmental forum kicks off in Beijing

BEIJING. KAZINFORM - The first annual meeting of a non-governmental branch-off of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) has kick off in Beijing today.

The two-day forum has gathered more than 270 think tank scholars, representatives of mass media and non-governmental organizations from CICA member states and observer states, namely former President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai, former Prime Minister of Israel Ehud Barak, former Prime Minister of Pakistan Raja Pervez Ashraf and many others. Kazakhstan will be represented at the forum by former Prime Minister of Kazakhstan and president of LLP "International fun "Integration" Sergei Tereshchenko, director of the International and Regional Cooperation Institute of the German-Kazakh University Bulat Sultanov, president of JSC "Center of military and strategic research" under the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kozy-Korpesh Karbuzov, Ambassador of Kazakhstan in China Shakhrat Nuryshev and other delegates. Vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Chen Yuan read the welcome address of Chinese President Xi Jinping to participants of the forum. Established in 1992, the CICA has 26 member states. China assumed the chairmanship for the 2014-2016 period in May 2014 in Shanghai.
