Christmas brings peace and harmony to our souls - Father George, Taraz Archpriest of Holy Assumption Cathedral Church

"Christmas is a great festival of the Orthodox Church. I wish all the people who doubt, to strengthen their faith, those who are ill hope for the Lord God, because there are no coincidences in our lives. Everything happens by the will of God. Let everyone bring peace to his family, his soul and society in order to live in peace and harmony with one another and with the world", said Father George.

Forty day fast is practiced by East Christians in preparation for Christmas Holiday. Through this practice one is better enabled to draw closer to God in the hope of becoming more Christ-like. While the fast influences the body, it is important to note that emphasis is placed on the spiritual facet of the fast rather than mere physical deprivation.

Christmas is one of the main festivals of the Orthodox church calendar. Christmas completes a forty Advent and Christmas Eve is the evening or day before Christmas Day, the widely celebrated annual holiday.
