Chinese Girl by Vladimir Tretchikoff sells for almost £1 million

ASTANA. March 25. KAZINFORM Vladimir Tretchikoff's painting Chinese Girl was sold at auction in London for nearly £1 million. The work by Petropavlovsk-born Tretchikoff was obtained by £982050 - almost double its expected price on 20 March, Kazinform has learnt from My Petropavlovsk website.
The Chinese Girl is believed to be one of the world's most reproduced prints and symbols of western pop culture. Thousands of its copies were sold in the world in 1950-60s.
The glamour painting was a classic décor item for several generations in Great Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and South Africa.
