Kazakhstan's Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov discussed the implementation of investment projects in Kostanay region with the leadership of China's East Hope Group, Qazinform News Agency reports.

According to the press service of the Kazakh Energy Ministry, Minister Akkenzhenov and East Hope Group's Chief Strategy Investment Officer Chen Lei met to discuss upcoming investment projects in Kostanay region.

East Hope Group is exploring the opportunity to build a 1 GW coal-fired power plant to power a proposed aluminum complex, while also signaling interest in expanding its portfolio into renewable energy and broader coal industry projects.

Yerlan Akkenzhenov pledged the Ministry of Energy's full support for initiatives enhancing Kazakhstan’s industrial and energy capabilities.

During the discussions, he emphasized the crucial role of foreign investment, advanced technology adoption, localizing production, and generating high-value-added employment.

Earlier, Qazinform reported businesses of Turkic countries may gain access to 341,000 retail outlets in China.
