China on Thursday sent a new communication technology test satellite into space from the Wenchang Space Launch Site in Hainan Province, Qazinform News Agency reports, citing Xinhua.
The satellite was launched into orbit at 3:30 p.m. Beijing Time aboard a Long March-5 rocket and has successfully reached its designated orbit.
The spacecraft will primarily be used to conduct verification tests of multi-band and high-speed communication technologies.
The launch also marked the 650th mission for the Long March rocket series.
The Wenchang Space Launch Site in southern China’s Hainan Province has become a key hub for the country’s orbital missions.
Earlier, Qazinform News Agency reported that the three astronauts of China’s Shenzhou-21 mission had returned to Earth after completing a record-breaking 210-day stay aboard the country’s space station.
