Chevron Corporation to build children's center in Atyrau

John S. Watson, CEO of Chevron Corporation, and governor of Atyrau region Baktykozha Izmukhambetov participated in a groundbreaking ceremony in Atyrau on Tuesday. "The Schoolchildren's Palace that will be built by the oil giant Chevron will become a multifunctional educational center. Here our children will spend their free time, do sports, and learn foreign languages," Mr. Izmukhambetov said at the ceremony. Mr. Watson, in turn, added that by investing into the youth of the region, the company helps young people develop their skills and make maximum use of the opportunities offered by the society in the future. Construction of the $25 million worth project is expected to be completed by late 2015 - early 2016. Governor Izmukhambetov said an indoor tennis court will be erected in Atyrau as well. "Construction of the tennis court will start in December 2014 near the Ice Palace. Any person who wants to learn how to play tennis or needs practice can come to the court. Other social facilities are to be built in the region in the nearest future. We are currently discussing all the details," he added.
