Charter of Islamic Organization for Food Security ratified by Majilis

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Majilis, lower chamber of the Kazakh Parliament, has approved the bill "On ratification of the Charter of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS)" at the plenary session today.
"Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev proposed to headquarter the IOFS in Kazakhstan at the 38th session of the meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the OIC in Astana on June 28, 2011," Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Assylzhan Mamytbekov said introducing the bill. Minister Mamytbekov also reminded that the signing ceremony of the Charter of the IOFS took place during the 40th session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in December 2013 in Guinea. According to him, Kazakhstan will act as the coordinator of food security within the OIC.
