Chances are slim, but there is still hope – Emergencies minister on missing Karaganda miners
Kazakh Emergencies Minister Syrym Sharipkhanov commented on the situation in the Kostenko mine at the press briefing in Karaganda region, Kazinform News Agency reports.
According to Minister Sharipkhanov, the chances to find the missing miners alive are slim.
Currently, 13 miners affected by the blast that rocked the Kostenko mine are still underground and considered MIA.
“The chances are slim, but there is still hope,” he said of the missing miners.
In his words, rescuers managed to save 5 people from the mine. They were rushed to a hospital to get necessary medical assistance. Search for the remaining miners is still underway.
A powerful blast rocked the Kostenko mine in Karaganda region owned by ArcelorMittal Temirtau claiming lives of 33 miners earlier this morning.
