Chairmanship in OSCE is historic chance for Kazakhstan - Head of Polish delegation to OSCE PA Paweł Poncyljusz

Head of the Polish delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (PA) Paweł Poncyljusz has made it public. As the press service of Kazakh Embassy to Poland informed, Kazakh Ambassador Alexei Volkov met with the Polish parliamentarians and discussed priority directions of Kazakhstan's activity at the post of OSCE chairman in the Sejm (Lower House of the Polish Parliament).
The Polish deputies were familiarized with a strategic vision of goals of Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the OSCE and a Road Map of the chairmanship represented by OSCE Chairperson-in-office, Secretary of State-Minister of Foreign Affairs Kanat Saudabayev.
The Kazakh diplomat told about priority directions of the chairmanship's activity on all OSCE 'baskets' and events planned to be carried out within the framework of the chairmanship this year. Special attention was paid to the importance of the Corfu Process continuation, which is directed to development of new approaches in the field of the European security, strengthening mechanisms of protection of human rights, civil institutions and democracy development at the OSCE space.
The Polish deputies highly appraised the initiatives of the Kazakh chairmanship, including holding the OSCE Summit. Taking into account the location of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) in Warsaw, they emphasized importance of constructive interaction of Kazakhstan with the ODIHR on the issues of observing presidential and parliamentary elections in the OSCE member states. There was noted importance of holding the Trans-Asian Parliamentary Forum in Astana in May 2010.
Besides, the Ambassador met with the Sejm deputies, members of the Kazakh-Polish group of parliamentary cooperation. There were discussed various issues of bilateral and multilateral interaction, prospects of trade development with Poland after establishment of the Customs Union by Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus and etc. There was emphasized that for the first time the volume of the Kazakh-Polish trade in 2009 exceeded USD 1 bln, and our countries, regional leaders of Central Asia and Eastern Europe maintained economic growth and overcame the crisis.
