Central Election Commission approved Final Protocol on verification of citizens' signatures voting for referendum

ASTANA. January 13. KAZINFORM /Askar Bimendin/ The Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan approved the Final Protocol on the results of verification of signatures of the citizens who had come forward with an initiative to hold a national referendum. Chairman of the Commission Kuandyk Turgankulov made it public at a press conference on Thursday.

"Today we have approved the Protocol of the Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan on the results of signatures verification of Kazakhstani voters coming forward with an initiative to hold national referendum. As of January 13, 2011 the Central Election Commission received protocols from all regional election commissions on the results of signatures verification. The initiative group has also handed over the summary data on the results of signatures collection and signature sheets. Totally 5 mln 16 thousand signatures that is 55.2% of voters supported the idea of holding the referendum. According to the Chairman of the Commission, the Final Protocol will be submitted to the Head of the State for consideration.
