Central Asian Regional to combat drug trafficking

ANKARA. JAnuary 9. KAZINFORM The Central Asia Regional Information and Coordination Centre will be established to combat illegal turnover of drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan inked an agreement to establish the Centre on 26 January in 2006. The Centre as a juridical figure will be financed through funds of the donor states, aids of international organizations and endowments of the member-countries. The Centre will coordinate efforts in struggle against illegal drugs turnover, creation of mutual contact mechanisms amongst authoritative bodies and assistance in strengthening struggle of the participant-countries against the international organized crimes on illegal drugs turnover, Kazinform refers to the Journal of Turkish Weekly.
