CEC electronic system in Moldova goes dead; CEC cannot process data
According to the secretary, "the CEC will be guided only by data, received from paper reports due to the system's failure".
Earlier the CEC reported that data, circulated on Sunday, on a low turnout for the referendum are wrong. According to the commission only 57,000 citizens or less that one percent of the electorate went to the polls by 09.45. The CEC explained that this is attributed to a mistake while feeding data.
More than 2.6 million Moldavian registered voters are suggested to reply to one question: how to elect the president-- at parliament or on a nation-wide basis, as it was before 2002. The main idea of the referendum now is whether it takes place or not.
"If one-third of registered voters come to polling stations, that is 33 percent, the plebiscite will be pronounced valid," Ciokan emphasized.
