CAREC holds seminar on water standards and norms

ALMATY. July 31. KAZINFORM /Serik Koibagarov/ "Harmonization of Water Standards and Norms in Central Asia" seminar has started its work in the Central Asian Regional Environmental Center (CAREC) in Almaty city; Kazinform reports.

The seminar is held under the project of the European Commission "Harmonization and Approximation of Water Standards and Norms in Central Asia". Experts of the state authorized bodies in environmental sphere, water resources administration, hydrometeorology and healthcare of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, representatives of the CAREC, international environment organizations, scientists and specialist take part in the seminar.

The seminar is aimed at discussion of the draft national report "Water Standards and Norms in Kazakhstan" as well as proposals for improvement of the environment security of population through harmonization of water standards and norms, studying of possibility and advisability of its oncoming to the EC standards.

The participants will also discuss results of the first seminar held in Bishkek, on March, 3-4, 2009.
