Candidates for SCO membership should not be subject to UN Security Council's sanctions - K.Saudabayev

KAZINFORM /Rassul Bakhamov/ For further stable development of the SCO Kazakhstan considers it essential that potential candidates for the Organization membership should not be subject to the UN Security Council's sanctions. Chairperson-in-Office, Kazakh Secretary of State-Minister of Foreign Affairs Kanat Saudabayev announced it at the session of the SCO Foreign Ministers' Council.

Bilateral problems of certain countries must in no case influence the interaction within the SCO. This must be clearly specified within possible admission of new member states into the SCO, he noted.

The Foreign Ministers approved draft Provision on admission of new members into the Organization. Adoption of this document at the session of the Council of SCO Heads of State in Tashkent on June 10-11 will be a start of the process of forming a mechanism of the Organization's expansion.
