OTTAWA. August 7. KAZINFORM Canada will order 50.4 million doses of A/H1N1 flu vaccine, enough to give one to every Canadian, government officials announced Thursday; Kazinform cites China View.
Results from trials suggest one dose should be enough, meaning the order will be large enough for each of the 33 million population, or two doses to 75 percent of the population, said Dr. David Butler-Jones, the chief public health officer of Canada, at a press conference in Ottawa.
Anyone who wants and needs will be vaccinated and high risk people such as pregnant women and children will get priority. More could be ordered if this amount is not enough, he said.
The total cost will be more than 400 million Canadian dollars (360 million U. S. dollars), Health Minister Leona Aglukkaq said; Kazinform refers to China View.
