Building collapse kills 9 in Bangladesh capital
Duty officer of fire service Ataur Raman told Xinhua that the building collapsed at around 11 pm local time and hit several tin- shed houses nearby killing people.
The rescue operation is still going on.
Raman could not confirm the cause of the collapse of the building, only said a road is being constructed near the building which ever dug the ground a lot, that may be the reason of the collapse.
According to local media, it was a three-storey building until 2001 and later made to a five-storey structure. The construction of the top floor was completed just a weak ago.
The duty officer could not say how many people remain stranded inside the collapse building.
Raman said the death toll might increase as around 50 rescuers are still working there, Kazinform cites Xinhua. See www.xinhaunet.com
