Brazil says ready to allocate Greece $286 million in aid

RIO-DE-JANEIRO. May 8. KAZINFORM Brazil is ready to provide the International Monetary Fund (IMF) with $286 million as part of an aid package for the financially-stricken Greece, the Brazilian finance minister said; Kazinform refers to RIA Novosti.

"Brazil as one of the IMF creditors called on others to provide Greece with money," Guido Mantega said adding that the money will be allocated from Brazilian international reserves.

European Union ministers approved an 80-billion-euro aid for Greece during a meeting in Brussels last Sunday. The IMF pledged to provide 30 billion euros in loans under the three-year deal.

Greece, whose national debt reaches 300 billon euros ($400 billion), agreed to carry out huge budget cuts as part of an austerity program; Kazinform cites RIA Novosti.
