Branch of Moscow State University being built near Akorda presidential residence

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - A new building for the Kazakhstani branch of the Moscow State University named after M.Lomonosov is currently being built on the left bank of Astana city, deputy director of the branch Ms Sabina Ayazbekova has announced at a press briefing of the Central Communications Service.
"Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev has allotted a land plot not far from the Akorda Presidential Residence for the construction of the Kazakhstani branch of the Moscow State University. This is quite symbolic. We hope that our students will be able to move into new dormitories this year. The academic block will be constructed soon as well," she said. Recall that the Kazakhstani branch of the university was founded upon the initiative of President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and the idea was praised by Rector of the Moscow State University Viktor Sadovnichiy. The latter issued a decree on the establishment of the Kazakhstani branch on December 1, 2000. Presently, the branch seats at the Gumilyov Eurasian National University.
