Boxer Sanzhar Tashkenbay wins fourth World Cup gold for Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan's Sanzhar Tashkenbay captured the gold medal at the World Boxing Cup in China, emerging victorious in the men's 50kg division, Qazinform News Agency correspondent reports.
The two-time world champion faced Uzbekistan's Asian champion Asilbek Jalilov in a fiercely contested final. After an intense battle, Tashkenbay emerged victorious by split decision, with judges scoring the bout 3-2 in favor of the Kazakh boxer.
Tashkenbay enjoyed a dominant run to the top of the podium. He opened the knockout stage with a commanding 5-0 victory over Kyrgyzstan's Anvarzhan Khodzhiev
In the quarterfinals, he cruised past Kyrgyzstan's Anvarzhan Khodzhiev with a unanimous 5-0 decision. He then produced another unanimous 5-0 win against Spain's Martin Molina Salvador in the semifinals.
With the victory, Tashkenbay claimed World Cup gold and added another medal to Kazakhstan's tally.
