Bone Marrow Transplant Hematology department of world standard to open in Astana

ASTANA. August 17. KAZINFORM In Astana on the basis of the Republican Scientific Center of emergency medical care it has been decided to carry out the planned reconstruction of the hematology department for bone marrow transplantation, reports astana.kz.

The department will meet international standards and will increase the number of bone marrow transplants to 50 per year. This decision was taken due to the lack of resources to provide a waiting list for all patients, as the building was originally intended to provide emergency services, and facilities do not meet the throughput of more than five transplants a year.

In Astana today have been done more than 20 bone marrow transplants, including allogeneic (from a related donor) and haploidentical (from parents, matching compatibility of only 50%).

Republican scientific center of emergency medical care is the most promising for implementation of innovations in the field of hematology (particularly bone marrow transplant). The department has a 250-bed capacity multi-structure. The medical institution is equipped with unique technologies for bone marrow transplant, and chemotherapy.
