Bolivia, RF to conclude multimillion dollar deal on arms supplies

MOSCOW. May 22. KAZIINFORM Bolivia intends to conclude with Russia a contract on weapon supplies to the tune of several million dollars soon, Bolivian Deputy Foreign Minister Hugo Fernandez told Russian reporters on Friday. The Bolivian diplomat is on a 2-day visit in Moscow; Kazinform refers to ITAR-TASS.

?This is helicopters and some kinds of weapons, which cannot be made public yet,? the diplomat said. ?We have not reached an agreement on the list of weapons, which can be interesting for us,? he pointed out. ?We will return to this issue in a few months, as several million dollars are at stake,? the Bolivian deputy foreign minister added. Upon results of the Russian visit of Bolivian President Evo Morales the countries ?reached an agreement on the struggle with drug trafficking and deliveries of Russian military hardware, particularly helicopters,? the Bolivian diplomat recalled. Meanwhile, Hugo Fernandez did not answer a question about the concrete timeline of handing over Russian helicopters to Bolivia, adding that he is expected to visit a helicopter building plant in Russia. ?These aircraft will be used in the struggle with drug trafficking,? the diplomat said.
