Biggest 2.500-seat sports arena to be unveiled in Taraz

According to head of the regional department of tourism, physical culture and sports Gamlet Kainarbekov, the construction of the 2.500-seat arena has commenced in May 2011 and is to be commissioned this September. "There are no analogues to this sports complex in the region. Hopefully, the new Taraz Arena will play a huge role in the development of mass sport in the Zhambyl province," said Mr. Kainarbekov.

Located in the new Baiterek microdistrict, the Taraz Arena occupies the territory of 10.6 thousand square meters. The estimated cost of the project totals KZT 4.8 billion, including KZT 3.6 billion for construction works and KZT 477.6 million for equipment.

With a number of gyms, swimming-pools, boxing rings and ball rooms, the sports arena offers hundreds of opportunities to go in for various sports. Football pitches, volleyball and basketball playgrounds and tennis courts surround the sports complex.

The new arena will welcome sports events of regional, republican and international level in the nearest future.
